Description
This event is to assist first-year new students in setting up their first semester class schedules and becoming familiar with the academic advising systems at Indian River State College. Attendance at this event will remove the new student advising hold from your account and allow you to register for your first semester.
SCHEDLE
Check-In Period -> First 30 mins, Students who arrive after the designated check-in period will be required to reschedule.
Event starts promptly after the check-in period ends.
Students attending this event must bring a valid photo ID. Photo ID's that are past their expiration date, cut, or damaged will not be accepted. Printed or digital photos of ID's will also not be accepted.

- Who is this event for?
This event is for any new, degree-seeking student at The River ( including former dual enrollment students).
- Is this mandatory for new students?
While a group advising event is not required, new students must meet with an academic advisor before they can register for classes. New students will need to either make an appointment with their assigned academic advisor or attend a group advising event before the hold on their account is lifted to allow class registration.
- Do I need to bring anything with me?
The only required item you need to have on your person on the date and time of the event is a valid photo ID. You may optionally bring your own device (a laptop or tablet) as well.
- The date I wanted says there are no spots available. Can I come anyway?
These events take place in computer labs with limited seating. Students not on the registration list will be asked to either register for a later event or make an appointment with their assigned advisor.
- Can I register for more than one event?
No, you will not be able to register for more than one event at a time. Should you need to register for a different date, time, or campus, please cancel your original registration before attempting to register for a new event.
- What do I do if I cant make it to the event I registered for?
You will have been texted and emailed a confirmation of your registration. There will be a link to cancel your registration in both of those communications. Don't forget to reschedule if you can't make it to your original appointment.
- Can my parents / guardians come?
No, due to limited seating at these events, it is expected that the student will attend on their own.
- Do I have to attend at a specific campus?
No, students from any location, no matter what campus in their 'main campus,' can attend a new student group advising event at any location that works with their schedule.
